Hear from past and current participants and facilitators of the Come Alive! Program
Come Alive! will appeal to a wide variety of people looking for these objectives: making space for God in the "real world," connecting the physical with the spiritual, learning about healthy eating & moving, creating peace in chaos, understanding God’s deep love for each of us, needing friendship, accountability, encouragement, and how to learn structure & optimize time. |
I’d been tentative about trying any “diet” or weight loss program because of past failed attempts – losing weight just to gain it back again, and more, after lapsing on overly ambitious programs. The Come Alive! Program is different. It’s not a “diet” program but a faith-based holistic wellness lifestyle program. I believe the scriptural and spiritual focus of the program made the difference for me. The Holy Spirit is key to providing the strength to be successful. |
Come Alive! is an excellent small group study that combines spiritual disciplines with research-based health and wellness strategies. Our small group really enjoyed learning new spiritual disciplines such as centering prayer and lector divina and low-impact physical movement (who doesn’t like dancing Salsa!) Every participant reported a greater sense of wellbeing and lowered stress levels. Several diabetics even experienced lower blood sugar levels! The healthy eating portion of the study was excellent and we ended up sharing a healthy meal (and recipes) every week! More than anything, the study was a bonding experience for everyone. In fact, Come Alive! was so helpful that everyone asked for a monthly “refresh” to support one another and hold each other accountable. We will definitely offer the study for others in our congregation. - Pastor Bruce Ray |
My favorite practices in Come Alive! were the One Minute Sabbath & Mindful Walking. I use the One Minute on almost a daily basis. It helps me avoid a rash response to an irritant, settles my mind and dispels anxiety |
“The Breath prayers came easily and were definitely a favorite practice that I’ve included as part of my new daily rhythm.” - Norene Oleksiak
