Frequently Asked Questions For Facilitators
1. Do I need to be a health expert or trained facilitator? No. The introduction of the facilitator guide has detailed instruction on small group facilitation. Each session has step by step instructions for the facilitator to follow. Important things that you can do are: pray in advance of each session, read the Facilitator Guide in advance, bring a caring attitude, and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. 2. Can I have a co-facilitator? Yes, that’s a brilliant idea! It works well to alternate leading each section of the program. 3. Will this work for my denomination? Yes. Come Alive! is an ecumenical small group program, with a Bible-based curriculum appropriate for any Christian faith. So far 12 different Christian denominations have LOVED IT! 4. I’m in small group, how do I get it started? Ask your group if they are interested in a Bible based wellbeing study & direct them to our website for more information. 5. I’m not in a small group. How do I invite people? A personal invitation is a great choice. Other ways to reach people are: by email, Come Alive! posters, church newsletter, bulletin inserts, and handouts. Examples of promotional material are right here. 6. How many people are ideal to have in a small group? 6-16 people are ideal, but the size can vary. We’ve had groups ranging from 4 to 21 people. 7. What type of space will I need? Enough room so everyone can sit in a chair in a circle plus some open space for movement. A class room, family room or living room will work. If you meet over Zoom, any room in the house is fine. 8. How much time will I need to invest outside of the sessions as a facilitator? About 30 minutes a week to review of the facilitator guide for that week and to gather a few household items for some of the sessions. 9. What will I need to do before the start date? Two weeks before the start of the program, finalize the list of interested participants. Next, order the participant guides for each person, (including the facilitator) and 1-2 facilitator guides. 10. One week before the start date: Hand out the participant guides and give a short introduction of the program or email participants with instructions to read the Warm-Up Section. 11. Do I need volunteers to help with the sessions? Yes! We encourage every participant to volunteer for a small but important task; like set up, clean up, music, communications, prayer requests, walk leader, time keeper, etc. 12. Are their additional costs? No, just the cost of the Facilitator Guide(s) and the Participant Guides. 13. Can I talk to another facilitator or Living Abundantly Ministries if I have questions?
